Experimental Film Development

Image
So far, I have managed to develop my idea into brief narrative, so currently I am developing it more by organising a storyboard and looking at inspirations and iconography.  I need to  - organise the different locations/parts to film - get a box - write equipment needed - sort a shooting schedule. A lot of my film will be relying on post production, so Im just trying to organise what I need to shoot with what (some things slow motion, etc) so I don't miss anything. The detail and b-roll still needs to be sorted a bit more, however that should not take long at all.

I forgot to upload these, but prior to my first shoot I did some test shots while I was in the area of shooting to see roughly what the turn out could be.

Creating Sound Piece

Image
While doing/starting this project, I had a few inspirations in mind. I knew basquiat used to be in an experimental band called Gray, I decided at the very beginning that I wanted to do a rotary phone at the start of my piece, which came from 'Suicide Hotline' when I heard the phone noises. I then looked at the visual aspect of the painting and made notes, and then the meaning. Because the painting is about capitalism, I decided I wanted to use metallic industrial sounds to create an intense and churning atmosphere; kind of like the beginning sequence of Metropolis but in audio form. While listening to Gray's album, Drum Mode was relevant for this as I liked it's echoing and beat - hence the first booms in my piece. I then looked around at other experimental sound pieces around the theme of capitalism and metal. - William Basinski - The Disintegration Loops gave me the idea of noises clashing w music-y kinda stuff/whispery. This inspired me to experiment wit

Final Portraits

Image
Because I couldn't decide on what photos to use, I decided to try look at them as a layout using word. #1 is with the older portrait as its own photo. #2 i tried it with the edited morgue photo these two are with trying a different 'main portrait' in the top right compared to the other two. and also with trying two different middle right ones. overall, i decided to go with this layout. I think the editing with just the photo and flower looks nice, and the gazes in all the other photos compliment each other well
