manc museum and gallery trip

Been once since it reopened but then went again last week & had some thoughts. Saw some relief stuff and dont kno why I never tried something like it before... Watched a video when I was doing my archangel michael painting about guilding and giottos technique and noticed painters would carve out an outline/groove around the figures. Would be interesting to paint a portrait or something on clay and then carve out some lines to reinstate it? maybe of turbine print in clay. carve into clay with background blue or gold or smthn? and add rigids with big brush.. Also this time was interested in the hieroglyphics as was reading wiki pages of letters the other week for some reason and a lot of them derived from hieroglyphics. Also liked the way they were painted and carves at the edges. A lot more interested in the botanical stuff at the museum.. might have to see if theres a botany museum anywhereeee like the contact sheet like arrangement of these. also the colours in the rock...
