  1. Its great to see how your study of William Eggleston's photographs has heightened your awareness of colour within a composition. I particularly like your self portraits, the heart and underground sign, the orange and knife, the ceiling chandelier and the composition of the typewriter. I also like the fact that you are experimenting by transforming the everyday into an domestic aesthetic (the washing machine and red objects and your dog in the kitchen). This shows your pleasure in image taking and a willingness to apply what you are learning from established artists to your own work. An excellent process which demonstrates your ability for self directed learning.

In the pictures of your mum were you using onboard flash? These are not so successful as direct lighting in interiors rarely works because of the harsh light and reflective hot spots. Also your mum is boxed in and we can't see her face or what she is doing.

However, keep taking lots of photos and begin to evaluate in detail why an image works or doesn't work - this will help you develop your practice quickly. It's a cycle of learning: create, evaluate, analysis of how to improve/ build on the positives, apply to your next set of images and start the cycle again.

    Good work Avery.
