feb2025 // 35mm film // candido800 & kodakmax400
when i first got these developed i wasnt Mega happy with them, but now looking at them i think there are some interesting bits.
CANDIDO 800
got quite a few streaks n bits on the photos of this roll. not sure why but im not mad about it - if i wanted perfect photos id use a dslr. its not from a light leak i dont think as it hasnt happened with any other rolls. looking at reviews it seems some other people had the same?
also recently been having not much luck with the focus on my camera... maybe its time to buy another one, or fix the other ones i have..
despite these factors, i think it works in some of these images with the snow. reminds me of a photographer i found a while ago - olga karlovac - although she shoots in bnw i think

I like the layering in this image, which i dont think i really thought about when taking it, with the two cars facing opposite directions one in the foregroun and one in the back. the red light leak is also nice as theres not a lot of other colour in the photo which is mostly just shapes of shadow and snow
yum. like the smear-y aspect
yeah ok. was trying to take a photo using the timer and resting it on a surface so the slow shutter speed wouldnt be blurry. i think i like the blur better tho, however i was limited to what i was taking a photo of by the flat surface which was my car, so could only really point the camera one way if that makessensee.
stretford
this came out really nicely, eventhou im not a fan of the blown out sky.. a lot of photography vids say its better to overexpose film rather than underexpose it, however i think i prefer having darker shadows than blown out highlights..
The contrast in colours works well - the orange sunlight enhances the blueness of the tarmac road, and also makes the snow look cooler.
like this image... one benefit of this film is its speed being higher so was able to take photos like this which would be impossible with 200 film unless i had a tripod.
the shape of the stairs is what makes this photo in my opinion... it adds lots of layering in the foreground with the rail going round. has a very cool tint to it, but cant work out if thats due to the film or the contrast of the blue glass along the stairs.
nice. definitely an interesting tint to this film.. has a gentler contrast and a bit bluer.
light leak !
although its overexposed, i think with some straightening up this photo wouldnt look too bad..
like the glow of the sea i think. also it has some sort of grimey effect to it which is perhaps from the window?
would be nice if it wasnt over exposedddddd
its weird bc its annoying that a lot are overexposed, but i think it has a nice effect on some of them. like this one, im not too mad about the glowy hotel.... maybe this is something i can keep in mind when i shoot this film again, and if i have it in my camera on a bright day then ill shoot it a stop lower than what my meter says.
needs straightening up, also touch over exposed but not mad about it.. the blue and white contrast is nice
have another roll of candido800.. what can i do w it?
liked indoor photos
a lot of outside ones are overexposed eventhough i used light meter... somethin to keep in mind when i shoot the other roll

think need a new camera which is a shame bc i really like the one i have.. the focus in the viewfinder isnt working and the box is always wonky so is obviously difficult to frame up.
KOdak ultramax400
focus boo
this one is really simple but i also like it quite a bit. the tone is nice and it has a good balance to it with the hills and the reflection of the trees and the sky too. the water looks almost glass like until you see the ripples that appear in the part at the bottom third of the frame. Additionally i think the way the atmosphere makes the hills in the background look faded works really well.
like the presence of me in this, adds a bit of an interesting layer to a basic photo. There were quite a lot of dead fish in the water, no clue why, all 'de-gloved' in various stages.
like this one too? i think.not stunning but decent
think this photo couldve been a lot better.. idkhow or why, but logically the layering with the chairs and the shops and hillsin the background.. i think for some reason its not really annunciated in termsof detail... perhaps i tried to focus on the chair when i shouldve just gone for the infinity
yesss ok !! i like this a lot... i definitely mostly prefer having darker shadows that blown out highlights. the sun has nice interesting shapes with the shadows and the colours look a lot more defined.
yesss. love.. the colours look nice and i like how the two machines compliment each other in their similarities as well as differences.. Also i like the little reflections in the glass and the slight peak into the arcade on the right hand side.
yep.. i like this too, especially the trees mid breeze and the way theyre leaning adds to that.
i like the layering of things. i wanted to capture how the town is embedded around the cliffs, which i think comes out well in this image with the buildings and road signs.
like the people in this
no clue why this is blurred or how, because the shutter speed wouldnt have been low enough? still visually pleasing but would have been perf if it wasnt wobbly
surprised some of the inside of the arcade came out as it was very dark in there.
ok, but could have been better. some nice elements with the reflection. maybe could have been exposed less by a stop..
cheeky seagull... wanted to also capture the rusted bars or whatever they are... tried to get the trees behind to accentuate them which im glad i did as they kinda merge into the buildings on the other side and are less defined and become less of a focus/subject.
like this. the plastic over the things make it nicer and more real ...
liked the speakers and wanted to get a photo of them
i like how close cropped this is and how the railings give a size reference for the structure/building. like the lines and shapes and layers in this.. also i like the run down aspects of seaside towns
loved this car thing and the colour of it.. the people to the side are a nice element too, with one of those classic spinning gift trinket things
shame its out of focus but still can kinda see what it is.
on this roll, i think the photos from the pier came out best.
its interesting looking at some of the overexposure in these pics.. usually i hate it but i like how it makes certain objects glow and make it kinda interestingly dreamy which works well with the seaside theme especially. i think i just hate when the sky/horizon gets really blown out.

interesting objects dont always make interesting photos... recently i went out on a walk and wanted to take a photo of a sign, but knew it wouldnt come out very well with what was behind it as it would all become muddled so i had to take a second or so to think how i wanted to frame it...
i definitely want to get another camera at some point although im not desperate about it.
