yves klein leap into the void

i spend ages trying to think of a cover, mostly with imagery of cars and roads in mind. can'tremember how i came up with it, but i thought something similar the the klein falling work would be interesting. I kinda wanted something with motion and some sort of symbol (although i was originally thinking of road signs and markings).

photos:

i really wasn't planning on doing this anytime soon, after trying to plan to do it and the plan falling apart due to being busy etc, but randomly it happened which was rlly nice ! i woke up thinking i would be able to collect my car from the garage that evening so id prepared myself, and was looking forward to, a 30min evening walk. however the garage got sent the wrong part so i had an extra day but i decided to go on the walk anyway and take pictures, and then had the idea i could possibly shoot this idea. i took my time getting to the park as i knew i was going to be using a longer shutter anyway and also didnt mind a higher iso as the grain would be effective anyway. I wanted the final shot to be in black and white, but shot in colour, just to make it easier to review the photos on the camera screen and also to keep my options open. Also used a wider lens as with the space it worked out easier and i could always crop the photos further in when editing.

wanted to use a slow shutter speed to create a zooming effect, and wanted to try camera moving with body so background would be the most blurred.

post it noted faves when i got home, i put a star next to the correlating ones above.

editin...
started in lightroom first, imported the ones i had noted down

ended up going with 1862. I cropped it and tweaked colours/black and white in light room, then opened it in photoshop.

I used the motion blur effect and also masked out the figure so the background had most of the motion.

variations i did on other photos:

I started making some edits. wanted the image to not be the whole cover... started with blue and eventually leaned to black and white.

tried to edit figure against sky but wasnt into it

Think the dark gray background ones work best. like the grain a lott. very tv screen vibe.. put stars against the two i like best atm.

eval/ thoughts?

will do another shoot..? need bigger swing.big problem as swings were really short so was difficult to get a decent in air duration. also bruised the fuck out of my leg from the chain and messed my legs up for a couple ofdays. who knew jumping off a swing about 30times in less than an hour would have effects on the body?!.. OUCHIE!!!

think i could have used a quicker shutter to get more photos of the motion since i ended up editing the blur anyway...?

do wish the figure was more carved out, but also really happy with how it came out
