binding photo | tests

I have been intending for a while to take some photos/make a photo of binding with clingfilm.

I kind of tested it last year when i was in my shithole of a flat, as i didnt know if it would work, and been meaning to do it since then, however my cameras been broken as it has mould in it (in the SD n battery slots) and since im getting surgery in december so i need to sort this b4 then lmao so managed to borrow my grandads camera.
I did consider taking them with my phone or webcam, but I really wanted to mess with shutter speed and ISO.

Since binding with clingfilm is difficult as it is not safe for binding (obviously) and it comes kinda loose p quickly, I decided to take some tests in my binder.

I wrote out a lil list of some variety of shots to try and then set up camera and got to it. Ended up not really looking at the list.

I think they came out p good, some hit or miss. good place to evaluate before doing some with using clingfilm.
Also realised how my binder is so broken but also how the straps have always been too long as i prob just have shorter chest to neck region i guess???

Started off by separating the photos into two folders. One for 'decent' and one for 'nah'

Wanted to try grotesque positions n also tried to keep my face out the way/had to tie my hair up as I wanted it to be ust torso so needed my face to be positioned so it could be cropped out.

ONES MARKED AS DECENT:

IMG_9059 // IMG_9060
28mm // ISO12800 // f 4.5 // 1/125sec

IMG_9065 // IMG_9066
32mm // ISO12800 // f 4.5 // 1/125sec

IMG_9069 // IMG_9070
35mm // ISO12800 // f 11 // 1/15sec

^^ Tbh think im leaning towards not liking these, but would like to do some from front facing angle but with a slower shutter speed. Also u can tell i didn't know what to do w my hands so i look mega stiff like a fucking plank

IMG_9071
35mm // ISO12800 // f 11 // 1/15sec

IMG_9072 & IMG_9072 cropped
35mm // ISO12800 // f 11 // 1/15sec

^^ I think the cropped version of that is one of my faves...

IMG_9073 // IMG_9074
35mm // ISO12800 // f 14 // 1/8sec

^^ Ok these are kinda slay. i do like them as pics, but i think for the final photo i have in mind for this certain project they're not right. Might try crop them see what theyre like.

IMG_9075 // IMG_9076
35mm // ISO12800 // f 18 // 1/4sec

^^I do like these. The motion really came through with the shutter speed.

IMG_9077 // IMG_9078
35mm // ISO12800 // f 18 // 1/4sec

^^Again, like these photos as photos, but possibly wont do it like this for final img.

IMG_9079 // IMG_9080
24mm // ISO12800 // f 18 // 1/4sec

IMG_9081 // IMG_9082
24mm // ISO12800 // f 18 // 1/4sec

IMG_9085 // IMG_9085 crop
24mm // ISO12800 // f 18 // 1/4sec

^^ like this, the blur, the motion, maybe chest could b angled more towards camera?

IMG_9090 // IMG_9090 crop
24mm // ISO12800 // f 18 // 1/4sec

^^ Not vibing w these tbh

IMG_9099 // IMG_9099 crop
24mm // ISO12800 // f 18 // 1/4sec

^^ Think i like the straight on angles better than this pointing down thing.

IMG_9105 // IMG_9105 crop // IMG_9106
38mm // ISO12800 // f 18 // 1/4sec

IMG_9107
38mm // ISO12800 // f 18 // 1/4sec

IMG_9113 // IMG_9114
39mm // ISO12800 // f 18 // 1/4sec

IMG_9113 // IMG_9114

DECENT ONES:

IMG_9145 // IMG_9146
39mm // ISO800 // f 5.6 // 1/20sec

IMG_9139 // IMG_9140
39mm // ISO800 // f 5.6 // 1/20sec

^^ like the flash ones as photos but not my final intention.

NAH ONES:

EDITS!!!!!!!!

Did some lil editssssssssss of a few <3

IMG_9113

regular grain || soft grain

halftone effect || stamp effect

IMG_9085 crop

reticulation effect

IMG_ 9072 crop

reticulation effect || chrome effect

grain (high contrast low intensity) || plastereffect

think my fave of all these effects is the reticulation one, esp with the slow shutter speed yum

EVAL:

Wanted to try some grotesque kinda poses, as my original idea is based off what binding does to ur body.
And looking at some of the photos makes me kinda uncomfortable but thats kind of the point as I think my binder often pulls n pushes in places youd rather it didnt, also this almost locking thing in contrast with the motion of ur body.

As i was shooting was trying to pay attention to where my arms/body was lined up with the edges of the frame n i think it worked/u can see in the photos.

Didnt really care about the f stop in terms of the effect it gives, so i could use/sacrifice that to get the lighting/exposure i wanted with high ISO and low shutter.

would like to do some in colour too and try some sort of glossy glowy editing. Think could get some effects in the clingfilm version that i cant in the binder version. etg glossy plastic effect could try and also the stamp effects would get more detailss.

Like them closer up?? intimate and more abstract? body fills all /at least most of screen? I do like the compsotion of some of the more negative space ones.

Wrote on the list I did before shooting to try a black background but I think I like it better

Could use some for drawing refs/paintings tbf

Faves:

IMG_9072 crop , IMG_9073 crop , IMG_9075
IMG_9085 crop , IMG_9105 crop , IMG_9162 crop

^^the latter two like the framing of them/the closer crop

IMG_9114 , IMG_9116

Gonna come up with a lil eval/ note to self for when i do the clingfilm shoot in a few days

notes from my notes made a while back on project:

clingfilm thing: photos n vid in slow motion edit. ‘BOUND’.mp4 take tests in binder first;;;; positions lighting etc. take note of lighting etc iso clingfilm binder

vid1. camera shot of back? drum roll as wrap around?or unwrap? or strings? wonky sounding. cut some frames out so its janky. wind instruments jangling? webcam or camera?
(note: think might do this of spinning? could always just press film or flm with webcam while im shooting n then do something with the footage.

vid 2- spraying top surgery scars n crotch

take pics too ofc vids- clingfilm clothes n spray paint. top surgery lines, one with excessive amount at crotch or bellybutton area like It drips use half a can of paint?? exclamation mark?

Think im might do the spray paint idea after surgery?? then it can be more like a dress rather than binder? think it would work better n stay together better.
