SOUND PIECE | presenting the work and layout
I have realised, like with my other project that was in the gallery that this has a different theme channeled through it than i thought it did. with the other project it was control and now i think this piece is more about distance.
This term has been all over the place for me, with finding things difficult and i dont know where i have been, and my 'messy process' hasn't been helpful. I found it difficult to do things separately by recording and editing, etc as editing effects on digitally isn't the same as analogue as with analogue you can turn effects on and off and find different things and idk how theyll sound together before editing which i quite difficult. I think i felt as though i was wrestling with a lot of it and things felt just out of reach.
Think i just want to learn more, confined to this process and the same sounds on protools.
TRYING TO CREATE AN EXPERIENCE.. LOOMING, SADNESS, DISTANCE, LONELINESS?,
1. UNTITLED
made up of guitar feedback layered over each other.
represents total out of mind, in another or even no plane of existence, mentally.
2. RESURFACING, MAYBE
this piece introduces the idea of maybe resurfacing to the top and being present again.
With waves and people speaking with an underwater effect.
Alongside this some keys or chords will faze in and out.
3. WHERE DID U GO
repetition and mantras! German earworms.
lomay lomay, somebody else, evergreen and revolution 9 as main inspirations.
4. NIGHT/THE GARDEN
guitar piece leading the listener down a dark aural street and into a dream like state, where there is a questioning of where you are going and, theoretically, being asked by an angel. 'THE GARDEN, ANGELS, DEATH, TRANSCENDING THE TANGIBLE PLANE. IMAGINATION, A DREAM'
5. UNTITLED REPRISE
back to feedback. same little bit that loops and gradually fades, leaving the ending open.

and for the speaking i think i am going to use someone reading out some tarot cards which i got when my friend did them for me last.
Online people consume art without realising it. it allows the audience to interpret the work in their own way. Many pieces that have had a prominent space in my memories are ones that ive found online and have consumed in my own made space whether it be in my room or car or where ever. For example i remember first listening to O Superman in my room and for me that was a rememberable moment.
I then had a drawing idea based off of the noise section so i'm thinking of exhibiting it with a drawing for each sound piece with earphones to listen to it on.
TO DO FROM HERE:
record: tarot reading (for underwater speaking), feedback with pedals (try different tunings), get studio out, (film in studio to put on blog?)
make violin bow 4 guitar? try different materials get some steel wool etc
try guitar over holidays
find a refrain that i want to repeat throughout piece... like pink floyd shine on you crazy diamond.
Drum/jazz to represent an awakening??? maybe at end??? trying to break through? IDK like in the wall album??
or maybe a long spoken piece that's actually a whole poem over feedback to possibly bridge a gap between all of these strings.
