MAPS & NETWORKS: lesson one, initial thoughts & ideas
Here are my notes I made in the first lesson as I also made notes as I had thoughts that were triggered by things and other thoughts & ideas I had.
Gender
Identity - lines drawn inspired by keith harring in multi screen/other art work i've done to resemble destination/map/journey/etc.
Body/Physical form/intangible
Todd Haynes Superstar dolls & deformationSensory/space. in galleries i feel so far away from the pieces in a white sparse room. Curate space.
How moods/actions effect others.links to sensory/synonyms. .. Idols? Influencers.
Gender is a social identity thing? could argue its expression but that is so mixed!
Identity has me thinking about philosophy things I watched/read over the summer, especially David Hume...
The part on identity is from 5:50, but the rest is interesting too.
Also this video which goes into more detail on object features/bundle theory/properties:
Honorable quote: 'one day someones going to hand you a red apple and you're going to feel like a wanker'
need for Stimulation & constant interaction. interaction constant. especially for the internet. reminds me of Andy Warhol Sleep and the idea of people having TV in background as it does make the room feel less empty. Warhol talks about it in his book that I read! Called The Philosophy of Andy Warhol. maybe it wasnt in that book, i cant really remember it was such a long time ago i think. but i recall reading something in reply to the opinion of warhols films lengths that the they were never intended to be seen in whole as they were often showed in galleries or at his exploding plastic inevitable show he did. this had me thinking how TV/media is used for 'background' noise. my mum always has the TV on although she says she never watches it, somehow something going on (like the TV) makes a room feel less empty and make you more productive. for example, i usually have podcasts on or a movie or music, eventhough i dont always have my full attention on it.
What if everything just stopped and it was just silent? i think i would die lmao. wouldnt know what to do with self. (thought inspired by David Hall tap TV interruption)
THeatrical Immersive Experimental
