Shoot #1
My first shoot went surprisingly well! Prior to shooting i wrote a list of shots that I wanted to get.
I got quite a lot of photos as I used the timer on my camera and also set it to take a few so I could try out different things like positioning and gaze.
I tried some shots of me running, however I ended up not really liking these
These ones are my favourite out of the running ones
I like how these photos look like they are being taken away by the wind, and it looks almost hopeful.
Some closer shots.
I took these simple ones at the beginning before looking at the list, just to get going. I then tried some simple portraits; trying different angles and cut off points, the ones cut off at the waist came out super nice. I decided upon a bunch of red/pink bunch of carnations and roses, not just because they were cheaper than some actual yellow ones that were there, but i decided I liked the a e s t h e t i c more and reminded me of how Angela Carter used flowers in the Bloody Chamber. I liked how they looked beautiful and delicate, yet connoted a sense of danger, which my series has become.
The last with the gun and picture worked really well. I bought a toy gun from poundland (for 50p!!!) to try to see how it would work in my shots. Originally, I was going to use my hand because i obviously don't have access to a realistic gun (this isnt america :-) ) so I thought it would be cool to break the verisimilitude of the piece and the fact that that it is a created concept, I think a realistic gun would have looked wrong and too serious anyway. It also, at first, reminded me of fight club, when the narrator is fighting tyler/nobody.
I think the water gun works really well and doesn't look super out of place and adds to the style.

Not too keen on these:
I wanted to use a phone to resemble the ideas of old photo time traveller theories where it looks like the person has a phone.
i love the effect of the windshield in this.
for the ones below, I wanted to face the skyscrapers and then half way through when the camera was shooting i moved to try facing a different way.
Looking over the shoulder was a good idea, as they are looking out of frame and can be read in any way.
More running:
I liked these ones as well, they also look lost and connote emotion.
Here I tried an idea for a stylised position I had in mind, inspired by expressionism.
